We visited PIRUS COMPOSITE company Thursday 17 January. The company is located in Ruitz.
Pirus is one of our sponsors. They are in charge of making the mould for the car body. We visited the company workshop and the design department. It was very interesting. They use Polyurethane foam blocks. We saw the mould making process. We saw the making of a mould for a train front end. First they use cutters to cut the foam, then they use a cutting machine to get the accurate shape. They use a 3D scanner and solidworks software to design the mould. They showed other projects: a car bumper, a sand yacht, and a silo top.
We talked about our project. Mr Laurent Pille explained it was necessary to enlarge the car body so as to avoid rounded tips.
